KATHMANDU: Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer (CDO) Chhabi Rijal is facing intense criticism on social media after ordering a crackdown on the ongoing Gen-Z youth protests.

In the wake of escalating demonstrations, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has removed Rijal’s photo from its official website.

The move comes after at least 19 protesters were killed and more than 250 injured in clashes with security forces.

Critics accuse Rijal of hypocrisy, pointing out that while his own children are studying abroad, he has authorized force against Nepali youths demanding their rights.

Despite a curfew imposed by the administration, angry demonstrators have continued to defy orders, gathering in key areas including Baneshwor, Shankhamul, Maitighar, Thapagaun, and Singha Durbar.

Police presence has been heavily reinforced across these sensitive zones.
