KATHMANDU: A fresh and unconventional entry in Nepalese cinema, the psychological thriller The Blue Light is set to release nationwide on this Friday.
With a strong star-studded cast and proven performers, the film promises to offer audiences a different cinematic experience from the traditional narrative styles prevalent in Nepali films.

The movie features Benisha Hamal, Shrishti Shrestha, Arpan Thapa, Mahesh Tripathi, and Ayushman Desharaj Joshi in leading roles.
Benisha Hamal, renowned for her versatile acting, has impressed audiences with her ability to adapt to any role.

Whether portraying a modern city woman or a simple village girl, she consistently delivers performances that resonate.
Speaking about The Blue Light, Benisha expressed her excitement, confident that the film will captivate viewers.

“This is unlike any movie we’ve seen recently,” Benisha said. “Our team is confident that audiences will love it.”
Her enthusiasm stems from both the film’s content and performances, as she is also the executive producer of the project.

Benisha emphasized that the movie’s story and presentation are among its main attractions.
Meanwhile, actress Shristi Shrestha, known so far for glamorous and romantic roles, takes on a negative role in this film.

Having previously acted in the thriller 11:55, she describes her role in The Blue Light as the most distinct character she has played to date.
“My character is more of an antagonist,” Shrishti shared. “I enjoy working in thriller genres, and the depth of the story and my role here is truly unique. Playing complex and negative characters teaches a lot compared to always portraying positive ones.”

Arpan Thapa, a versatile actor, director, and writer, highlighted that films like The Blue Light are rare in Nepal.
“A movie like this doesn’t come around often. It requires a director like Baliram Chauhan,” Arpan said. “Many films are made, but one like this is exceptional. The audience will discover a lot after watching it.”

Known for his serious and intense performances, Arpan added that creating a character goes beyond acting alone—it involves writing, direction, and the collective effort of the entire production team.
He believes the film’s characters, particularly their psychological depth, will leave audiences thinking long after the credits roll.
“This film satisfied my constant search for challenging and unique roles,” he said.

The Blue Light also stars Ayushman Desharaj Joshi, Mahesh Tripathi, and Surakshya Itani, with child actors Grisma Kutuwal and Sahara Sharma in supporting roles.
The film is directed by Baliram Chauhan, marking his directorial debut. Skyfall Pictures presents the film, with co-producers Bholanath Kutuwal and Raman Grey, and executive producers cinematographer Narendra Mainali and Benisha Hamal.

Cinematography is by Narendra Mainali, Aakash Ukheda serves as chief assistant director, Relija Shrestha is the production designer, and Dilip Panta is the production controller.
With its gripping storyline, psychological depth, and a powerhouse cast, The Blue Light aims to redefine audience expectations from Nepali cinema.
