Brentford held by Wolves after blowing two-goal lead

KATHMANDU: Brentford missed a golden chance to secure three points as they were held to a 2–2 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Brentford looked dominant in the first half, taking control early in the game.

Michael Kayode opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Igor Thiago doubled the lead in the 37th minute to put the hosts firmly ahead at 2–0.

However, Wolves pulled one back just before halftime, with Adam Armstrong scoring in the 44th minute to shift momentum.

The second half saw relentless pressure from Wolves, and their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Tolu Arokodare headed in the equalizer.

He came close to grabbing a winner as well, but his effort struck the bar.

Brentford had a late opportunity to seal the win, but Reiss Nelson failed to convert, leaving the match level at full time.

The result is a setback for Brentford’s Champions League ambitions, as they remain seventh with 45 points.

A victory would have taken them closer to the top five.

Meanwhile, Wolves showed strong character to fight back from two goals down, earning a valuable point as they sit near the bottom with 17 points.
