KATHMANDU: Regular staging of the play ‘Bhatti Tales’, written and directed by James Dhakal, has begun at the Sadhanaghar Theater of Oscar International College in Sukedhara.
The play is being performed at the Sadhanaghar Theatre of Oscar International College, Sukedhara.
Bhatti Tales draws its characters from everyday society—ordinary people living with their flaws, desires, and mistakes.
The narrative avoids clear divisions of right and wrong, presenting instead a realistic portrayal of human complexity where no character is entirely virtuous or entirely flawed.
An original theatrical work, the play is set against the backdrop of a bhatti—a familiar local space often filled with crowds, smoke, light music, and lively conversation.
Within this setting, humor, pain, struggle, and hope coexist at the same table, forming the emotional core of the production.
The cast includes Sudam CK, Bedana Rai, Rupesh Lama, Rishikesh Basyal, Tufan Thapa, Prakriti Karki, Michael Mahat, Tandav, Subrat Raj Silwal, Guddu, Pranjal Pandey, Sudip A.T., and Tharchen Lama.
Running approximately two hours and ten minutes, Bhatti Tales has been on stage since Poush 16 and will continue until Magh 3. Performances are held every evening at 5:15 pm, except Tuesdays, with an additional show on Saturdays at 1:00 pm.
With its grounded storytelling and socially resonant characters, Bhatti Tales offers audiences a compelling reflection of contemporary life through the lens of Nepali theatre.
