BCCI announces INR 131 crore reward for team India
The BCCI has promised that the reward will be distributed among players, coaching staff, and support personnel, along with individual performance bonuses.
KATHMANDU: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a whopping INR 131 crore reward for the Indian cricket team after their historic victory at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
India clinched the title on Sunday by defeating New Zealand by a commanding 96-run margin at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
With this win, India has successfully defended their T20 World Cup crown, becoming the first team in history to win the trophy in consecutive editions.
The BCCI stated that the reward is a recognition of the team’s extraordinary performance and dedication. The board also congratulated players, support staff, and selectors for their contribution to this remarkable achievement.
This victory also makes India the first country to win three ICC T20 World Cups—in 2007, 2024, and now 2026—cementing its dominance in the shortest format of international cricket.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised his team’s performance, highlighting the balance between experienced players and young talent as a key factor. Standout performances included Virat Kohli’s explosive batting and Jasprit Bumrah’s decisive bowling, which played crucial roles in the final.
Cricket analysts also noted that India’s strategic field placements, aggressive batting in the powerplay, and a strong spin attack made the difference in a high-pressure final against a formidable New Zealand side.
The BCCI has promised that the reward will be distributed among players, coaching staff, and support personnel, along with individual performance bonuses.
The announcement is expected to further boost morale as India looks forward to upcoming international series and the 2027 ICC events.
