Ballot printing completed for 88 constituencies
In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various districts.
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has announced that ballot paper printing has been completed for 88 constituencies across 37 districts for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
According to the Commission, a total of 10.963 million ballot papers have been printed so far. Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC said that ballot printing has been completed in districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat and Bardaghat–Susta West Nawalparasi.
He added that packing of ballot papers for these districts has also been completed.
Ballot printing for the House of Representatives election is being carried out at Janak Education Materials Centre Limited, Sanothimi, under both the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) and Proportional Representation (PR) electoral systems.
Printing officially began on Jan 6.
In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various districts.
For the Proportional Representation system, ballot printing began on Jan 10, and by Jan 27, a total of 20.83 million ballot papers had been printed.
These have since been packed, verified, and prepared for transportation, the Commission said.
