KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Mayor-turned-politician Balen Shah, now a candidate for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Jhapa-5, has arrived in the constituency, generating strong public interest.
On Tuesday morning, Balen shared a brief post on Facebook simply stating “Jhapa-5,” which quickly went viral.
Within six minutes, the post received over 11,000 comments and more than 24,000 likes, reflecting a highly positive response from the public.
Jhapa-5, traditionally considered the stronghold of CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli, is now set to witness a competitive race with Balen’s entry, adding excitement and challenge to the by-election scheduled for March 5.
According to the Chief Election Officer’s office, nomination submissions for the by-election will take place today:
