KATHMANDU: In the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Bagmati Province has been declared a fully vaccinated province during a special event organized by the provincial Ministry of Health in Bhaktapur today.

The declaration follows the successful immunization of all children under 15 months across the province’s 13 districts and 119 local levels.

This achievement was recognized based on certification from the National Full Immunization Coordination Committee under the federal Ministry of Health and Population.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Oli handed over the official certificate to Bagmati Province’s Health Minister Kiran Thapa. On the same occasion, he also launched the “Digital Health” initiative, aimed at strengthening digital services in the health sector.

Congratulating Bagmati Province on its milestone, Prime Minister Oli highlighted that the immunization campaign supports the national goal of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali” through the broader vision of a “Healthy Nepal.” He emphasized the importance of preventing diseases at the source, noting that vaccination is a key preventive tool.

“Diseases can occur, but we must block their causes and transmission. Vaccines are one such way. I am pleased to see this campaign succeeding,” said PM Oli. “Our constitution guarantees health as a fundamental right. The immunization program is a meaningful step toward fulfilling that right. As Nepal is set to graduate to developing country status by 2083 BS, such efforts are critical. We must now encourage other provinces to follow suit.”

Prime Minister Oli also honored outstanding health workers and female community health volunteers for their contributions to the campaign.

Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama credited the dedication of the health sector for the successful completion of the full immunization campaign.
