Despite sustained pressure from Turkey national football team in the second half, Australia held firm defensively.

Connor Metcalfe sealed the win in the 75th minute with a powerful long-range strike from outside the box, doubling Australia’s advantage and securing all three points.

Earlier in the group, United States men’s national soccer team defeated Paraguay national football team 4–1, leaving both Australia and the USA level on three points at the top of Group D.
