APF to promote Everest & Lhotse summiteers Sherpa & Karki

KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has decided to promote two of its personnel who successfully summited Mount Everest and Lhotse, recognizing their historic achievements in mountaineering.

Assistant Inspector Nim Diki Sherpa and Assistant Head Constable Anita Karki will be promoted one rank higher.

According to APF Central Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Bishnu Prasad Bhatt, the promotion process for Assistant Inspector Sherpa has already been initiated, while Assistant Head Constable Karki will be promoted to Head Constable after completing the minimum required service period in her current rank.

The announcement was made following APF Inspector General Narayan Datta Paudel’s declaration, after which the necessary administrative procedures were initiated.

IG Paudel also congratulated both climbers, stating that successfully hoisting the national and organizational flag atop the world’s highest peak is a matter of immense pride for the nation and the organization.

He further emphasized that their achievement on Mount Everest has boosted morale, inspiration, and enthusiasm among all ranks of APF personnel, noting that their determination and courage serve as a strong source of motivation.

During the event, both climbers expressed gratitude for the support and coordination provided by APF Nepal and all concerned authorities. They said it was a matter of great pride to represent the nation and the organization on the world’s highest summit.

Assistant Head Constable Anita Karki successfully summited Mount Everest at 10:20 AM on Jestha 3.

Assistant Inspector Nim Diki Sherpa reached the summit of Everest at 11:55 AM on the same day and later successfully climbed Mount Lhotse at 3:25 PM on Jestha 4.

Both Sherpa and Karki are the first female climbers from APF Nepal to successfully summit Mount Everest and Lhotse.

They will also be honored with the APF Honor for their remarkable achievement.
