ANFA denies official approval for Nepal-Hong Kong friendly match
The association also cited delays in obtaining necessary approvals, including repairs and maintenance at Dasharath Stadium, as a key reason for the issue.
KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has clarified that it has not received any official approval from the National Sports Council (NSC) for the international friendly match between Nepal and Hong Kong.
In a statement released Monday morning, ANFA emphasized that the match scheduled for March 26 lacked formal clearance from the NSC.
The association also cited delays in obtaining necessary approvals, including repairs and maintenance at Dasharath Stadium, as a key reason for the issue.
On Sunday afternoon, the NSC stated that the stadium would not be made available, prompting ANFA to announce the cancellation of the match.
Subsequently, Nepal informed the Hong Kong Football Association that political tensions in the country were a factor in calling off the game.
However, on Sunday evening, the NSC contradicted ANFA’s claim, stating that approval for Dasharath Stadium had been granted on time.
The following day, ANFA issued another statement, again denying the NSC’s claim.
