KATHMANDU: Daily life across Nepal, including the Kathmandu Valley, has been significantly affected since this morning due to dense fog and widespread cloud cover.
The weather disturbance, caused by the influence of a western low-pressure system, has disrupted road transportation, air travel and routine activities of local residents.
Visibility in Kathmandu dropped sharply from early morning, making road movement difficult and increasing the risk of accidents.
Many people hesitated to leave their homes during the early hours due to poor visibility. Air travelers have been the worst affected.
At Tribhuvan International Airport, most flights have been delayed due to fog, while several have been cancelled altogether.
Domestic flights have also been disrupted, forcing passengers to wait for extended periods at the airport.
In hilly and Himalayan districts, rainfall and snowfall have further worsened daily life. Moderate rainfall has been reported in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, while snowfall in higher elevations has led to road blockages and difficulties for residents collecting firewood and fodder.
Light rainfall in some areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces has also interfered with daily activities.
According to weather forecasts, the current weather conditions are likely to persist for a few more days. Travelers, air passengers and residents of hilly regions have been urged to remain cautious.
