KATHMANDU: The Nepali film Abhimanyu: Chapter 1 is now scheduled to release on Ashoj 13 (Phulpati).

Originally slated for Bhadra 27, the release was postponed due to disruptions caused by the recent Gen Z protests.

In an official statement, 7Seas Nepal, the film’s production company, said, “Although the film was initially set to release on Bhadra 27, the nation’s challenging circumstances required us to postpone. Now, seeing positive changes in the country, we aim to keep the Nepali film industry vibrant and dynamic by announcing the new release date. The film will premiere simultaneously across Nepal and internationally in the Nepali language on Ashoj 13.”

The Hindi version of the film will release on Ashoj 17 in India and globally.

Producer Vinod Paudel emphasized that the initial promotional investments made for the Bhadra 27 release could not be held for long. “After careful consideration, we decided to release the film on Phulpati. We have no intention of clashing with other films. Delaying further was not feasible,” he said. Paudel added that overseas screenings had already been scheduled, which limited any further postponement.

The film, presented by 7Seas Cinema, features Kameshwar Chaurasiya, Sarita Giri, Kiran Shrestha, Laxmi Bardewa, Gaumaya Gurung, Prakash Dahal, and Shishir Wangdel in lead roles. It is directed by Sushant Gautam, with Madan Thapa as creative director and Mukesh Khanal as the writer.

Producers of the film are Vinod Paudel and Gunjan Giri, with Ramesh Chaulagain and Hari Shrestha as co-producers.

Executive producers include Vishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Neerajan Luintel, and Sandesh Shrestha, while Jeevan Shakya serves as line producer.

Sharad Mahato is the DOP, Manoj Shrestha handles VFX, Junim Gahtaraj manages color grading, and Madan Ghimire is the editor.
