KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has informed that 885 Nepalese citizens have registered to return from Israel.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, Minister Rana provided this update.

The government had started collecting details online from Nepalese wishing to return due to the Israel-Iran conflict.

She emphasized that the government is prioritizing the safety of Nepalese nationals residing in the conflict zone and other affected countries.

Since the outbreak of the war, the government has been issuing advisories urging Nepalese in Israel and Iran to exercise heightened security precautions. Minister Rana also stated that efforts are ongoing to stay in constant contact with Nepalese ambassadors in the respective countries to monitor the security situation.

She further reported that 57 Nepalese detainees have been rescued from India so far.

The minister said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking the Israel-Iran conflict and its impacts very seriously, prioritizing the security of Nepalese citizens in those areas. Since June 13, we have been issuing press releases, and on June 15, we released a press advisory urging Nepalese in Israel and Iran to remain vigilant. I personally maintain daily contact with our ambassadors to understand the security status. Additionally, we are in continuous discussion with ambassadors in other countries regarding the safety of Nepalese citizens. On June 17, we launched an online portal to collect the details of Nepalese citizens, through which 885 people have registered so far. Within a day or two, we plan to integrate this with the ‘Shram Sansar’ mobile app to facilitate easier access for Nepalese worldwide.”

She also mentioned that a task force has been formed to legalize the status of Nepalese working abroad illegally. The government is also actively working for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who went missing during the Israel-Gaza conflict.
