580,945 voters finalised in Sunsari for March 5 parliamentary election

KATHMANDU: Sunsari district has finalized a total of 580,945 voters for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, according to the District Election Office.

Of the total voters across the district’s 12 local levels, 294,252 are men, 286,691 are women, and two are registered as third gender voters.

The District Election Office stated that four parliamentary constituencies have been designated in Sunsari.

In total, 167 polling stations and 624 polling centers have been fixed across the district, said District Election Officer Krishna Paudel.

Among the constituencies, Constituency No. 2 has the highest number of voters at 156,990, while the lowest number stands at 134,302.

The figures were made public after the completion of the voter list update by the Election Commission.

Preparations for the election, including voter education programs, are already underway, Paudel added.

Meanwhile, the federal government has deployed election officials in Sunsari for the upcoming polls.

Prakash Raut, currently serving as a district judge at the Sunsari District Court, has been appointed as the Chief Election Officer.

Similarly, Divyaraj Ghimire, Rajendra Kumar Lamsal, and Padam Bahadur Karki have been assigned as Election Officers, according to the District Election Office.
