57 Nepalis rescued from detention in India: FM Deuba
Minister Deuba said the rescue was carried out in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in India and an organization called ‘King India’ based in Uttarakhand.
KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba informed the House of Representatives on Monday that 57 Nepali nationals detained in India have been rescued.
Speaking during the parliamentary session, Minister Deuba said the rescue was carried out in coordination with the Nepali Embassy in India and an organization called ‘King India’ based in Uttarakhand.
She said, “Some parliamentarians raised concerns about Nepali citizens being detained in India. I would like to inform you that 57 people have already been rescued in coordination with King India and our embassy.”
Minister Deuba also expressed concern over the growing trend of Nepalis facing hardships abroad due to unrealistic expectations of an immediate improvement in living standards after migrating.
“This is a problem many Nepalis are facing every day,” she added, highlighting the need for increased awareness before going abroad.
