33 NUP leaders in Rupandehi resign, joining RSP
The resignation comes amid serious disagreements over the central leadership’s decision-making process, working style, and overall organizational management.
KATHMANDU: Thirty-three leaders and cadres of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), led by Ranjita Shrestha, have tendered a collective resignation in Rupandehi, including the party’s district president.
The resignation comes amid serious disagreements over the central leadership’s decision-making process, working style, and overall organizational management.
The leaders announced that they have relinquished all responsibilities, including their basic party membership.
Those who resigned include Rupandehi district president Tulsi Tharu, senior district vice-president Rakesh Koirala, central members Mahesh Giri, Tara Devi Chaudhary, Manju Dagaura and Keshav Chaudhary, provincial member Madhav Chaudhary, district treasurer Ram Bahadur Tharu, and women’s district president Radha Chaudhary, among others.
District president Tharu accused the party leadership of making decisions contrary to the sentiments of party workers and the aspirations of the people, and failing to keep the organization united.
“The party’s current direction and leadership style have deeply disappointed us. That is why we have resigned from all responsibilities,” he said.
Announcing their departure from NUP, Tharu informed that the resigning leaders and cadres, along with members of the Tharuhat–Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee, will formally join the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) on Monday.
