Election Code of Conduct takes effect from midnight

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission of Nepal has announced that the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, will come into force from midnight tonight in preparation for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
Assistant spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC said the decision was made during a meeting of the Commission held today.
He stated that the code has been enforced by exercising the authority granted under Section 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073, with the aim of ensuring freedom, fairness, transparency, cost-effectiveness, and a fear-free environment during the election process.
According to GC, the Commission will brief members of the Council of Ministers and senior government officials about the provisions of the code later today.
