2,453 drivers penalized in Kathmandu in 24 hours
Authorities have urged the public to report suspected drunk drivers immediately to nearby police units or via the Traffic Control Room hotline 103 and police emergency number 100.
KATHMANDU: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley took action against 2,453 drivers within the last 24 hours for violating traffic rules, generating a total revenue of Rs 1.15 million in fines.
According to the Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive included action against 105 drivers for drunk driving, 238 ride-sharing violations, 184 red-light jumpers, 186 speeding cases, 14 lane-crossing violations, 100 cases of driving on footpaths, 119 horn violations, 139 one-way violations, and 1,368 other infractions.
Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Nareshraj Subedi said the large-scale crackdown reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen road discipline in the Valley.
