Auto accident in Jumla, driver dies

KATHMANDU: An auto accident in Bhotchaur, Tila Rural Municipality-4, Jumla, has claimed the life of 44-year-old Ranbahadur Kunwar, the vehicle’s driver.

According to Havaldar Baiju Mahato of the Kudari Police Post, the accident occurred on Friday while Kunwar was transporting rice seedlings from Ranka village in Tatopani Rural Municipality-1 to Sarmi village in Ward No. 7 of the same municipality.

The auto (registration number Ka 1 Ha 31) reportedly veered off the road and fell approximately 60 meters down a slope.

The driver sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Jumla for treatment.

Police confirmed that Kunwar passed away at 5:40 AM during the course of treatment.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The body of the deceased has been kept at the hospital’s morgue for post-mortem.
