KATHMANDU: Sunrisers Hyderabad bid farewell to the IPL 2025 season in style with a dominant 42-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 65, held at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Already out of the playoff race, Hyderabad opted to bat first after losing the toss and posted a mammoth total of 231/6 in 20 overs.
Ishan Kishan starred with a blistering unbeaten 94 off just 48 balls, smashing 7 fours and 5 sixes. He received solid support from Abhishek Sharma (34), Aniket Verma (26), and Heinrich Klaasen (24).
Romario Shepherd was the most successful bowler for RCB, claiming 2 wickets.
In reply, RCB were bowled out for 189 in 19.5 overs. Phil Salt top-scored with 62 runs while Virat Kohli contributed 43, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to fire.
Pat Cummins led the bowling charge for Hyderabad with 3 wickets, while Harshal Patel and Ishan Malinga picked up 2 wickets each.
With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their campaign on a high, delivering a strong statement despite missing out on the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the defeat puts additional pressure on RCB’s playoff hopes.
