Kathmandu Police submit report on violent Tinkune royalist protest

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Police Office has completed its investigation into the violent royalist protest that took place in Tinkune on Chaitra 15 (March 28) and submitted the report to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kathmandu.
According to Gokul Bahadur Niraula, spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the police submitted the report on Thursday.
The police have recommended filing charges against 108 individuals involved in the incident.
Currently, 53 people remain in police custody at the district police office.
Of these, 26 are being investigated on charges of sedition and organized crime, while 27 face allegations of criminal unrest.
Additionally, 37 individuals have been released on bail.
Among those granted bail are Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra and RPP General Secretary and Member of Parliament Dhawal Shumsher Rana.
Durga Prasain, along with two others, have also been recommended for prosecution.
The report submitted by the police will be prosecuted by the public prosecutor’s office, and a case will be filed at the Kathmandu District Court.
Once the case is registered, the court will hold hearings to decide whether the accused should be held in custody during the trial or released on bail.
