KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Raghuji Panta has expressed concern over the increasing trend of individuals being ‘victimized’ through media outlets, calling it a major challenge that must be addressed immediately.

Speaking at an event in Lalitpur on Friday, Minister Pant emphasized the urgent need to prevent the misuse of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

He stressed that embracing the core values and ethics of journalism is crucial to curbing such abuse.

Minister Pant warned that without steadfast adherence to journalistic principles, AI could become a destructive weapon rather than a helpful tool. He urged media organizations to strictly follow the press code of conduct to stop the unfair targeting of individuals.

Recalling the early challenges faced by community radio stations, Minister Pant highlighted that in today’s digital era, the social responsibility of journalism is more critical than ever.
