KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has concluded the hearing on the habeas corpus petition filed in favor of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.

The hearing was conducted by a joint bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal.

Lamichhane was previously released on bail by the Rupandehi District Court in connection with the Butwal Supreme Savings Cooperative fraud case.

However, the Butwal High Court later overturned the bail order and sent him into judicial custody.

In response, Lamichhane filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s decision.

The habeas corpus petition was registered at the Supreme Court by Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Poudel, claiming that her husband was being unlawfully detained.
