KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badriprasad Pandey, has announced the government’s plan to develop Lumbini as an ‘International Peace City’.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 2025 edition of the Buddhist International Travel Mart (BITM) in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Pandey highlighted the government’s commitment to establishing Nepal as a global hub for Buddhist, spiritual, and peace tourism.

He emphasized Nepal’s rich Buddhist heritage and the government’s dedication to attracting spiritual tourists by positioning the country as the center of Buddhist cultural legacy.

To boost Buddhist tourism, Minister Pandey stated that efforts are underway to ensure regular international flights at Gautam Buddha International Airport and to improve road connectivity to enhance access to key pilgrimage sites.
