KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, has pledged to draw the attention of concerned authorities towards allocating budget for the upgrading of the Martyr’s Road in Tarakhola Rural Municipality, Baglung.

He emphasized that infrastructure development remains a top priority for his party.

Speaking at an event organized by the Tarakhola Rural Municipality today, Prachanda announced that efforts would be made to secure government funding to expand and blacktop the road connecting Tarakhola to the national highway.

“Although efforts were made earlier to include the Martyr’s Road in the national budget, they were unsuccessful. This time, we will make a special push,” he said. “This road is vital not only for tourism but also for marketing local products.”

Despite geographic challenges and limited resources, Tarakhola Rural Municipality has set an example in infrastructure development and service delivery, Prachanda added.

The 20-kilometer road had been selected four years ago for blacktopping under the government’s plan to link all local levels to the provincial capital with paved roads.

He also stated that the Maoist Centre’s awareness campaign centered on the Mid-Hill Pushpalal Highway has strengthened the party’s connection with the people.
