Fugitive Hariram Yadav arrested in murder case
Acting on the tip-off, police teams from the Dhanusha District Police Office and Mahendranagar Police Station broke into the suspect’s house.

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Hariram Yadav, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of his wife in Laxminiya Rural Municipality-5, Baniniya, Dhanusha district.
According to the District Police Office of Dhanusha, on Falgun 17, 2081 BS (around March 2025), 40-year-old Yadav physically assaulted his 25-year-old wife, Anjali Yadav, and forced her out of their home.
Following this incident, Hariram went missing for approximately 3 to 4 days, during which time locals reported suspicion after finding his house locked and no contact with him.
Acting on the tip-off, police teams from the Dhanusha District Police Office and Mahendranagar Police Station broke into the suspect’s house.
Upon inspection, they discovered fresh cement laid in the family’s ancestral deity’s prayer room in the basement.
Excavation beneath the cement revealed the naked body of Anjali Yadav buried nearly two feet deep.
After the murder, Hariram had fled the scene along with their 10-month-old daughter.
The victim’s father, Shivdhari Yadav, filed a formal complaint against his son-in-law, confirming the suspect’s involvement.
With the arrest warrant issued by the District Court of Dhanusha, police continued their search until they apprehended Hariram Yadav on Jestha 8, 2082 BS (around May 2025) near Khajuri Railway Station in Janaknandani Rural Municipality-4.
Police Superintendent Narhari Regmi confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, including efforts to locate and ensure the welfare of the suspect’s missing infant daughter.
