Govt directed to prepare for monsoon disasters

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Committee on Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns has directed all three tiers of government to coordinate and prepare for the mitigation and response to monsoon-induced disasters.
The directive was issued during a meeting held on Thursday at Singha Durbar under the leadership of committee chairperson Sonam Gyalzen Sherpa.
He stated that concerned authorities must stay prepared to minimize risks and effectively respond to potential disasters such as wildfires, earthquakes, and monsoon-related calamities.
The committee also emphasized the importance of inter-ministerial coordination and collaboration among federal, provincial, and local governments.
It urged relevant agencies to adopt a proactive approach to disaster management through social mobilization and institutional preparedness.
