Manisha Koirala, others praise ‘Unko Sweater’ as hit continues

KATHMANDU: The Nepali film Unko Sweater, which was released on May 9, has won the hearts of audiences and is now entering its third week after successfully completing its second week in theaters.

The event was graced by renowned Bollywood and Nepali actress Manisha Koirala, popular actor and pilot Captain Vijay Lama, actor Najir Hussain, singers Rajesh Payal Rai and Anand Karki, constitutional expert Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya, leader Nabina Lama, Dr. Lochan Rijal, journalists Dilbhushan Pathak and Aman Pratap Adhikari, among others, who all expressed their glowing appreciation after watching the film.
They praised ‘Woonko Sweater’ for its sensitive portrayal of Nepali society’s diversity, love, and traditions.
Actress Manisha Koirala openly applauded the film, saying, “I watched ‘Unko Sweater.’ What a beautiful and touching love story! The film transcends ethnic boundaries, presenting the vibrant cultural diversity of Nepal with soulful music and powerful performances. We laughed, we cried, and experienced the beauty of Nepal’s diverse souls.”
Singer Rajesh Payal Rai commented, “The film is extremely delightful. The director’s work is outstanding, and the actors’ performances are remarkable. Such fragrant love stories are pride-worthy contributions to the Nepali film industry.”
Actor and pilot Vijay Lama praised the storyline and direction, urging viewers to experience the film in theaters. “The director is an amazing storyteller. This organically told story is a must-watch for those of us living in the city,” he said.
Actor Najir Hussain said the film brought back nostalgic memories of old times. “The film is warm and gentle. It felt like reliving the warmth of the past. The actors’ performances touch the heart deeply,” he remarked.
Singer Anand Karki shared that every element of the film touched his heart and praised the film’s music for its high quality.
Constitutional expert Dr. Acharya noted the naturalness of the acting, dialogues, and scenes, saying the film felt like a personal experience. “It evokes nostalgia. The crowded auto-rickshaw scenes reminded me of childhood. I still have a few such autos safely preserved,” he added. He also praised actor Bipin Karki’s superb performance and singled out Miruna Magar’s portrayal as the most vivid and natural in the film. “Long live Nepali cinema!”
Directed by Naveen Chauhan, ‘Woonko Sweater’ stars Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Pareeksha Limbu, Alex Paras, Wilson Bikram Rai, Suraj Tamang, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, Sunil Pokharel, and others.
The film is also performing exceptionally well in international markets.
