Nepali judo team leaves for Bangladesh

KATHMANDU: A 14-member Nepali team, including 12 players, has left for Dhaka, Bangladesh today to participate in the Bangladesh Krira Sikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Judo Championship.

This competition is taking place on May 25 and 26. Among the 12 Nepali players, seven are men and five women.

The male players include Riwaj Lama Tamang (under 45 kg), Sabhar Paudel (under 50 kg), Buddha Gurung (under 55 kg), Sabin Kumar Diyali (under 60 kg), Bishesh BK (under 66 kg), Prayas Tamang (under 73 kg), and Bigyan Khatri (above 73 kg).

Similarly, the women players included in the team are Samita Nepali (under 44 kg), Nisha Shrestha (under 48 kg), Binita Nepali (under 52 kg), Pema Yangji Sherpa (under 57 kg), and Rekha Shrestha (under 63 kg).

Among the 12 participants, five players including Samita, Nisha, Binita, Pema, and Sabina are from the Prisoners Assistance Mission (HAM). The instructors are Radhadevi Rai and Laxmi Tamang.

Deepak Harsha Bajracharya, the president of the Nepal Judo Association, said that Radha will also play the role of a judge in the competition.

Wishing the team success, the member-secretary of the National Sports Council, Tankalal Ghising, bid farewell to the Nepali team at an event held here today.
