KATHMANDU: As temperatures continue to rise across Nepal, health experts are urging the public to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Hospitals have reported a spike in cases of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and sunburn in recent weeks.
Doctors recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours (11 AM to 3 PM), and wearing light, breathable clothing.
Elderly people, children, and those with chronic conditions are at higher risk and need extra care.
“Even healthy individuals can suffer from heatstroke if they are not cautious,” said Dr. Rina Shrestha, a physician at Patan Hospital. “Listen to your body and seek shade or air-conditioned places when necessary.”
The Ministry of Health has also advised citizens to limit the consumption of alcohol and caffeine, which can contribute to dehydration.
Local authorities have started awareness campaigns in schools and public places.
