KATHMANDU: Suro Nepal has been actively working to make farmers in Kailali and Kanchanpur districts self-reliant and entrepreneurial through ongoing support and initiatives.
For the past 3 to 4 years, the organization has been providing hand tractors and various modern agricultural tools to local farmers.
So far, around 3,000 farmers have benefitted either directly or indirectly from the support.
Among them, nearly 500 farmers have received hand tractors and other equipment, helping them adopt modern farming practices.
This initiative has not only enhanced agricultural productivity but also inspired farmers to become self-sufficient.
Led by Chairperson Sushila Khadka, Suro Nepal continues its mission with dedication.
A long-time social worker, Khadka has also been assisting children, the poor, the disabled, and underprivileged groups in various ways.
“Our small efforts can bring big changes in someone’s life. That belief keeps us going,” said Khadka.
Experts say such institutional efforts—from local to federal levels—can play a key role in improving the living standards of the farming community.
