Maoist MP Kusari hits Chair Sah with mic
The incident occurred after Sah raised concerns about Kusari arriving late and speaking without permission.

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Kalpana Miya Kusari created chaos during a meeting of the House of Representatives’ Women and Social Affairs Committee on Wednesday.
Kusari reportedly engaged in unruly behavior, attacking committee Chairperson Kiran Kumar Sah with a microphone and nameplate during a heated exchange.
The incident occurred after Sah raised concerns about Kusari arriving late and speaking without permission.
“She arrived late and began speaking without seeking permission. She then threw the microphone — thankfully, it didn’t hit me but went toward other lawmakers,” Sah stated.
In her defense, Kusari admitted to the act, saying, “Yes, I did throw the mic and nameplate, but it didn’t hit him. There was a verbal clash.” She accused the chairperson of monopolizing committee oversight visits and claimed that most members were dissatisfied with his leadership.
Following the incident, Speaker of the House has summoned both parties for clarification. Kusari has threatened to resign from the committee unless Chairperson Sah is removed.
“This committee cannot continue as it is — either I leave, or the chairperson must go,” Kusari declared.
