KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court hearing on the habeas corpus petition filed by Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been postponed despite being scheduled for today.

The joint bench of Justices Dr. Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal had started the hearing on Tuesday but could not conclude it, leading to the matter being listed for today as a “to be seen” case.

However, the hearing did not proceed as Justice Subedi was required to attend the Constitutional Bench, according to Supreme Court spokesperson Achyut Kuinkel.

Lamichhane, who is currently in judicial custody at Bhairahawa Prison, Rupandehi, in connection with a cooperative fraud case, had filed the petition seeking his immediate release.

However, the petition was listed under the category of cases that are not to be heard on Monday.
