BANIYANI (Jhapa): The Birtamode Municipal Hospital in Jhapa is set to launch a dialysis facility soon. It has recently got six new dialysis machines from donors.

According to Deputy Mayor Nagendra Prasad Sangraula, the hospital, which is operated under the supervision of the local government, continues to expand its services.

Currently, around 400-500 people visit the hospital on average each day for various medical needs.

Mayor Pabitra Mahatara Prasai said the health sector remains the top priority for the local government.

“We are preparing to launch 24-hour services,” she said. “However, delays in the construction of a new building have posed a challenge to implementing this plan.”

The local government aims to upgrade the current 15-bed facility to a 25-bed capacity.

Likewise, the municipality has ensured citizens’ access to healthcare services from one municipal-level facility and basic healthcare centers in all eight wards.

According to Rajib Krishna Bista, the Health Section Chief of the municipality, the rate of home births at the locality is now zero.
