25-year-old drowns in resort pool; 8 friends detained

KATHMANDU: Lokesh Mahato, a 25-year-old resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-22, died after drowning in a swimming pool at Dahakhani View Resort in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-7, Chitwan on Tuesday night.

According to Rabindra Khanal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Mahato had gone to the resort with friends when the incident occurred.

He was later found drowned in the pool.

Following the incident, police have taken eight of his friends into custody for investigation.

Authorities have begun a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the death.
