KATHMANDU: Rajasthan Royals registered a commanding 6-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in today’s Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Chasing a challenging target of 188 runs, Rajasthan reached the mark comfortably in just 17.1 overs, losing only four wickets.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a brisk start with a 19-ball 36, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.

The second-wicket partnership between Vaibhav Suryavanshi and captain Sanju Samson proved crucial, adding 98 runs to the scoreboard.

Sanju contributed a steady 41, while Vaibhav top-scored with a fluent 57 off 33 balls, hitting 4 boundaries.

Finishing the game, Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 31, while Shimron Hetmyer added an unbeaten 12 to seal the win.

In bowling, Chennai’s Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets.

Earlier, Rajasthan won the toss and opted to field first.

Chennai Super Kings posted 187/7 in 20 overs. Devon Conway (10) and Urvil Patel (0) fell cheaply, with CSK struggling at 12/2.

A 56-run partnership between Ayush Mahatre and Ashwin stabilized the innings. Mahatre smashed 43 off 20 balls with 8 fours and a six.

Dewald Brevis then added 42 off 25, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes, while Shivam Dube (39) and MS Dhoni (16) added late runs.

For Rajasthan, Akash Madhwal and Yudhvir Singh starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets each.

Despite being out of playoff contention, Rajasthan improved to 8 points, moving to 9th place on the table.

Chennai remain at the bottom with 6 points.
