Lamichhane custody hearing postponed due to time constraints
The case was scheduled before the bench of Justices Nakul Subedi and Balkrishna Dhakal.

KATHMANDU: The custody petition of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has once again been placed under “hearing pending” status at the Supreme Court.
The case was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday before a bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal.
However, the hearing could not be completed and the petition was deferred.
Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Paudel, filed the bail petition in the Supreme Court on April 20 (Baisakh 7).
Despite multiple scheduled hearings, the petition had repeatedly been placed under “hearing not possible” status. Tuesday marked the seventh time the case was called for hearing.
The petition challenges the order of the Butwal bench of the High Court in Tulsipur, which on April 4 (Chaitra 22) sent Lamichhane to judicial custody for further investigation.
The High Court bench had overturned the Rupandehi District Court’s decision and ordered Lamichhane’s detention. Currently, he remains in Rupandehi prison.
