KATHMANDU: Jhapa police have seized smuggled goods valued at Rs 361 million from three containers in Birtamode Municipality-5.

The containers, bearing Indian number plates NL 01 AH 5679, NL 01 N 9223, and NL 02 N 7486, were intercepted while being brought into Nepal via Kakarbhitta from India, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.

The Koshi Province Police Office in Biratnagar confirmed that the containers were carrying various smuggled items, including agricultural machinery such as combine harvesters.

The containers have been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office in Itahari for further examination.
