Socket bombs found in school, safely defused
According to police, the bombs were found at Bhagawati Secondary School located in Triveni Rural Municipality-2, Nuwagaun.

KATHMANDU: Two old and abandoned socket bombs were discovered inside the premises of a school near Dahaban in Rolpa district.
According to police, the bombs were found at Bhagawati Secondary School located in Triveni Rural Municipality-2, Nuwagaun.
The explosives were uncovered around 12:45 PM on Monday during excavation work for the construction of a new school building.
Following the discovery, police teams from the Nuwagaun Police Post and the Area Police Office in Holeri reached the site.
A bomb disposal team from the Surya Dal Battalion based in Libang, led by Army Captain Shankar Thapa, was deployed to neutralize the threat.
Both bombs were successfully defused by Tuesday afternoon after a joint effort by the Nepal Army and police that lasted an entire day.
Inspector Bijay Chapagain, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said the bombs may have been left during the Maoist insurgency.
At that time, Dahaban was home to the Maoist Fifth Division Headquarters.
After the integration of Maoist combatants, a company of the Nepal Army was also stationed in the area.
