MP Durga Rai urges govt to respond with action, not words
Rai criticized ruling party lawmakers for responding verbally to opposition questions and urged the government to instead show results through its work.

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Durga Rai has said the government should respond to the opposition through actions, not just words.
Speaking during Monday’s House of Representatives meeting, Rai criticized ruling party lawmakers for responding verbally to opposition questions and urged the government to instead show results through its work.
She extended best wishes to the ruling coalition, which claims it will last until 2084 BS, but warned against any move toward a two-party system. “We won’t allow a two-party system to take root,” she asserted on behalf of the Maoist party.
“When the opposition criticizes, it is not the job of ruling party MPs to respond with words. The government must answer through its work,” she said. “Leaders of the Prime Minister’s party repeatedly say this coalition will last until 2084. Best wishes for that, but let me caution—talks of heading toward a two-party system have been heard, and we won’t accept that. The Maoist party will not allow a two-party structure.”
She further criticized the government for creating a situation where citizens are forced into hardship. “You say the opposition complains even under the light, but no Nepali citizen wants to live in darkness by choice. The government is creating circumstances that push us into compulsion.”
MP Rai also stressed the importance of meaningful debates in Parliament to formulate laws as envisioned in the constitution.
