KATHMANDU: Fulham pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback win over Brentford in the Premier League, keeping their slim hopes of finishing in the top eight alive.
Raúl Jiménez gave Fulham a flying start with a powerful header in the 16th minute, connecting perfectly with Adama Traoré’s cross.
However, Brentford hit back just six minutes later through Bryan Mbeumo, leveling the score.
Mbeumo had a golden opportunity to put Brentford ahead from the penalty spot in the 28th minute but failed to convert.
The visitors eventually took the lead before halftime when Yoane Wissa pounced on a poor defensive clearance, slotting in from Christian Nørgaard’s header in the 43rd minute.
The second half saw a remarkable turnaround from Fulham. In the 68th minute, Tom Cairney scored a brilliant header to bring the match back to 2-2.
Cairney, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been linked with a move to League One runners-up Wrexham.
Just two minutes later, Harry Wilson curled in a sensational goal from outside the box, sealing a dramatic 3-2 win for the hosts.
With 54 points from 37 matches, Fulham have now achieved their highest-ever points tally in Premier League history. They sit in 10th place, just one point behind eighth-placed Brentford (55 points).
