KATHMANDU: A Summit Air Twin Otter aircraft, en route to Lukla on Monday morning, was forced to return to Kathmandu after experiencing a technical issue mid-flight.

The flight, bearing number 301, safely made an emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to airport spokesperson Rinjin Sherpa, the aircraft landed safely at 7:24 AM after an engine-related problem was detected.

“The flight was diverted back to Kathmandu due to an engine issue. Fortunately, it landed safely without incident,” Sherpa confirmed.

There were 19 people on board, including crew members.

All passengers are reported to be safe and unharmed.

Technical teams are currently investigating the nature of the issue.

The aircraft will resume service only after a thorough inspection and clearance from the engineering department, airport sources said.
