PSG end Ligue 1 season with comeback win, eyeing four trophies

KATHMANDU: Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) wrapped up their Ligue 1 season in style with a 3-1 comeback victory over Auxerre on Saturday.
Having clinched their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title back on April 5 with six matches remaining—after defeating Angers—PSG showcased their dominance once again in their final league outing.
Auxerre took a surprise lead in the 30th minute through Lassine Sinayoko. However, PSG responded strongly in the second half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia equalized in the 59th minute before captain Marquinhos put the hosts ahead with a powerful header in the 67th.
Although Gonçalo Ramos missed a chance to extend the lead from the penalty spot, Kvaratskhelia sealed the win with his second goal in the 88th minute, confirming PSG’s 26th league win of the season.
Luis Enrique’s side is now set to play two more finals in the next 14 days as they chase a quadruple. PSG will face Reims in the French Cup final on May 24, followed by a high-stakes UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan on May 31.
Earlier this season, PSG also lifted the French Super Cup by defeating Monaco in January, making them strong contenders to finish the season with four major trophies.
