SC official remanded 2 more days over Resham arrest letter forgery

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep Supreme Court official Mahiman Singh Bista in custody for an additional two days for further investigation in a forgery case.

Bista is under investigation for allegedly issuing an unauthorized letter ordering the arrest and imprisonment of Nagarik Unmukti Party leader Resham Chaudhary.

The letter, dated Baisakh 17, instructed the police to detain Chaudhary and send him to prison.

However, it was later revealed that the letter was illegal, leading to Chaudhary’s subsequent release.

Following the controversy, Bista himself was arrested, and the Kathmandu District Police Office is now investigating him on charges of document forgery.
