‘Unko Sweater’ shines at box office, wins hearts

KATHMANDU: The newly released Nepali film Unko Sweater (Woolen Sweater) is making waves across the country, capturing the hearts of audiences and achieving commercial success within its first week.
By the fifth day of its release, theaters nationwide have seen overwhelming crowds, with distributors confirming over 350 screenings—the majority of which have been sold out.
According to distribution sources, several cinemas ran houseful shows throughout the day on Wednesday, boosted by the occasion of a ‘Deal Day’ promotional event. With packed audiences, industry insiders believe the film has already secured strong box office numbers, though a complete collection report is expected soon as data from some cinemas is still pending.
In addition to its box office triumph, ‘Woolen Sweater’ is gaining massive attention for its soundtrack. The latest release, ‘Chainejo Jindagani Ma’, dropped on the third day of release and has already gone viral across social media, drawing praise for its composition and emotional resonance. Earlier songs like ‘Phool’, ‘Makhmali’, and ‘Kafle’ have also received millions of views and have become favorites among audiences.
On its sixth day, Thursday, the film continues to draw enthusiastic crowds, especially in theaters across the Kathmandu Valley.
Cast members have been making personal appearances at cinema halls to engage with fans.
Beginning in the second week, the team is set to embark on a nationwide promotional tour.
According to director Naveen Chauhan, the tour will kick off from Damauli and continue through Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Dang, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Damak, Dharan, Biratnagar, and Itahari.
The core team participating in the tour includes actors Bipin Karki, Pariksha Limbu, Alex Paras, singer Sujan Chapagain, and director Chauhan himself.
