KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a double-digit decline today, dropping by 14.87 points to settle at 2,634.23 points.

A total of 314 companies were traded, with 21,828,231 shares changing hands in 102,445 transactions. The total turnover amounted to Rs 9.63 billion.

Among the various sub-indices, Development Banks gained 0.88%, Life Insurance rose by 0.95%, and the Manufacturing & Processing sector increased by 0.34%. However, all other sectors closed in the red.

The Banking sector declined by 0.30%, Finance by 1.91%, Hotels & Tourism by 2.21%, Hydropower by 1.18%, and the Investment sector by 0.79%.

Similarly, Microfinance fell by 0.69%, Mutual Funds by 0.18%, Non-Life Insurance by 0.59%, Trading by 2.46%, and the Others group by 0.60%.

Shares of Crest Micro Life Insurance Ltd. and Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Ltd. hit the positive circuit limit, signaling maximum allowable daily gain.

Conversely, Guras Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd. recorded the sharpest decline, with its share price falling by 7.93%.

Universal Power Company Ltd. topped the trading charts in both transaction volume and value, with 1,546,489 shares traded worth Rs 672.08 million.
