The studio, which will be developed on 42 ropanis of land, is expected to become Nepal’s premier destination for film production.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today laid the foundation stone for the construction of ‘Cinepa’, a cutting-edge film shooting studio to be built in Banepa Municipality–10, Kavrepalanchowk district.
The studio, which will be developed on 42 ropanis of land, is expected to become Nepal’s premier destination for film production, featuring world-class shooting and post-production facilities.
The announcement was made during a special program organized by the Film Development Board at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
PM Oli officially inaugurated the project, marking a significant step forward for Nepal’s film industry.
Despite six decades since the inception of Nepali cinema, the country has long lacked a fully equipped, modern film studio.
Producers and artists involved in the sector have repeatedly voiced their concerns over the absence of such infrastructure.
The construction of the Cinepa studio is seen as a milestone that will not only enhance the technical capacity of Nepali cinema but also attract international filmmakers to Nepal.
