KATHMANDU: The Nepali film ‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera: Ghar No. 2’, directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, has been granted a Universal Certificate by the Central Film Censorship Board of Nepal.

This means the film is officially approved for viewing by audiences of all age groups.

During the screening process at the censor board, several members were reportedly moved to tears, describing the film as a deeply emotional and authentic cinematic experience.

Some board members expressed that it had been a long time since they had seen a truly original and heartfelt Nepali film, with one stating, “Some scenes touched us so deeply that we couldn’t hold back our tears.”

The film, scheduled for release on Jestha 2 (May 16), features a story penned by acclaimed writer Buddhisagar.

It explores the nuanced and emotional dynamics between living in one’s own home versus living on rent — a theme many Nepalis will find relatable.

The ensemble cast includes some of Nepal’s most celebrated actors such as Khagendra Lamichhane, Nischal Basnet, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Aryan Sigdel, Keki Adhikari, along with Prakash Ghimire, Shrijana Napit, Sanjog Rasaili, Rubina Ghimire, and Suraj Bista.

The film is jointly presented by Apple Entertainment, A Plus Entertainment, and Nataraj Creation. Krishna Bahadur Thapa handled the cinematography, while Yuvraj Karki serves as the executive producer.

The film’s producers include Nakeem Uddin, Sharad Shrestha, and Kiran Maharjan.
