KATHMANDU: A landslide that occurred on Tuesday morning at Ekamana Bhanjyang in Sirijanga Rural Municipality-7, Khewang, has stranded a group of tourists returning from a trek to Mt. Kanchenjunga.

The landslide has completely blocked the road, halting all travel between Yamphudin and Khewang.

With no food or lodging facilities available in the affected area, local police have directed the tourists and their guides toward Pingdanda for safety.

According to local resident Umesh Gautam, efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the road using excavators and other machinery. The operation is being led by the ward office and police under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Dhanraj Tumbapo.

Around 30 to 35 individuals, including 15 foreign tourists, are currently stuck due to the roadblock.

Authorities are continuing work to restore the route as soon as possible.
